Vintage Rogers Londoner 4 Piece Drum Shell Pack – 12/13/16/24 – Custom Transparent Black Satin Oil (148-1)

Meticulously refinished and restored 1970 Rogers Londoner, 12/13/16/24, in true black stain with a tung oil finish. Not a veneer or wrap. This kit was born together. Powertone Fullerton tags inside. Serial numbers (from smallest drum to the bass drum: 25796, 27263, 22983, 23042).

We don’t usually refinish kits, but when we do, we go all out and we take our time. This kit originally had an ebony wrap that was badly split and faded. Each drum was stripped to the raw shell. Copious amounts of paint stripper and sanding was needed to get all of the old glue residue off. Lots of ply separation was glued and clamped and several small spots on the edges were repaired with epoxy. Two coats of stain and five coats of tung oil were applied with fine sanding between each coat. All of the bearing edges were leveled and re-cut to the factory profile. The bass drum hoops were refinished with new white marine pearl inlays. All hardware was cleaned in an ultrasonic and polished by hand. Badges and original vent grommets were carefully re-installed. The lugs were installed with cotton inside to prevent spring rattle. And lastly, it was reassembled with all new Code drum heads all around.

This beautiful kit is ready to go. No issues. All tension rods and hoops are vintage Rogers. The floor tom has brand new reproduction Rogers legs with suspension feet. The collets on the tom brackets were replaced with older machined Rogers collets. Everything functions as it should. The chrome has light pitting scattered around. The worst spot is on the resonant side floor tom hoop.
